Backplates & Wings

Technical scuba diving harness systems come in many flavors, shapes and sizes, designed for as many uses.  Recreation divers love backplate systems because they are compact, and when packaged with an aluminum packplate, can be lightweight. Technical divers love them because they hold gear close to the body, can be streamlined as you can get, and strong enough to carry double tank systems.

  • Harnesses can be a simple single looped webbing or can have d-rings, clips, quick releases and padding
  • Cave and wreck divers love simple harnesses
  • Deep divers typically use stainless steel backplates for the 7-8 pounds of weight they add close to your back
  • Can add as much gear as you need, pockets, stainless steel 'D' rings
  • Buoyancy bladders or wings come in numerous shapes and sizes each designed for a different type of diving
  • Weight systems are usually optional but can be added to just about any diving harness system
  • Padded harness systems like Hollis HTS or Dive Rite Transpac are great for travel
