Cavern and Overhead Environments
Overhead is just like it sounds, something over your head. Any time a diver does not have direct access to the surface this is overhead environment diving. A cavern is a large underground chamber like Inner Space Caverns, Texas or Carlsbad Caverns, New Mexico. Explore a geologic wonder as you dive in areas taking millions of years to form with stalactites and stalagmites, columns as well as fossils. This course is designed to develop the minimum skills and knowledge for cavern and overhead environment diving within the limits of light penetration; in addition outlines specific hazards associated with cave diving. The cavern course is not intended to provide instruction for cave diving environments.
