Previous HID lights have been way too expensive for most divers to consider. Here's a 10w HID light, which has a brightness of 500 lumens. Big blue also packages their lights light no one else, it comes with both a lantern style handle and a pistol grip handle. If you travel this HID light will cut down one your weight by allowing you to power it with 'AA' batteries instead of heavy C batteries. Aside from Big blue's magnetic rotary switch which does not penetrate the housing reducing a failure point, it has a backup in case the bulb burns out, a 1 watt LED lamp which will give you enough light to get to the surface. Delivering a ultra white beam at 10 watts instead of the 25 watts a halogen would need to get to this brightness, you'll save batteries or make more night dives on a week long trip.
